Antony Zambolt

Founding Artistic Director / Choir Director

Starting as repetiteur for HOTA Choir in 2018, Antony took over direction of the choir in 2019 and oversaw the subsequent transition to Vocal Waves in 2021. He brings over 35 years of piano and voice teaching, music directing, and keyboard / theatre performing experience to his role as its Founding Artistic Director.

Singing in choirs from a very early age, Antony was a full scholarship recipient to the prestigious St Mary’s Cathedral School in Sydney as a boy chorister. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Sydney Conservatorium (University of Sydney) where he studied piano with Gerard Willems AM and toured nationally and internationally as a soloist and tenor with the Conservatorium Chorale under the direction of Dr Neil McEwan. He has also studied voice with Bob Tasman-Smith and Stephan Yalouris, orchestration with Tommy Tycho, and conducting with Richard Gill AO.

Antony is in demand professionally, having held the position of Children’s Chorus Master for Opera Australia’s regional touring productions along with numerous projects as a musical director, associate musical director, keyboard player, and repetiteur, with major productions at HOTA, The Star Gold Coast, Twelfth Night Theatre, Spotlight Theatre and Gold Coast Little Theatre.

With over 20 years’ experience teaching middle / senior years music curriculum in Queensland, Antony loves supporting the development of the performing arts on the Gold Coast and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of artists, composers, musical directors, and musicians.
